With the school holidays coming to an end, my household is slowly gearing for the new school term.
My daughter returned from a history tour, in time to sort herself and her room for the beginning of the new term. (This will keep her busy for a bit - especially the room part - LOL)
I just returned from Somerset West where Cathy and I were furiously preparing for the Scrapping 4 Charity event held at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West the week-end of the 9th of August 2013. It is definitely going to be a fun filled event!!
I would like to share with you a lay-out I made for the sketch no. 5 challenge over at Scrap and Music
This is the sketch:
........ and the song....
She (Elvis Costello)
She
May be the face I can't forget.
A trace of pleasure or regretMay be my treasure or the price I have to pay.
She maybe the song that summer sings.
May be the chill that autumn brings.
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day.
She
May be the beauty or the beast.
May be the famine or the feast.
May turn each day into a heaven or a hell.
She may be the mirror of my dreams.
A smile reflected in a stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell
She who always seems so happy in a crowd.
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry.
She maybe the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows of the past.
That I'll remember till the day I die
She
Maybe the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I'll care for through the rough and ready years
Me I'll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is
She, she, she
Here is my take on the sketch. The photo I used is one of my daughter when she was 13 years old. They had a tutor group meeting at school where a photographer took special photos of them. SHE definitely adds meaning to my life.
Some paper from the Kaisercraft Remember Me collection was used. I fussy cut the flowers and lifted them with foam dots to add some dimension along the "flower" edge. The butterfly is from Fabscraps. Different paper was punched with edge punches, inked and layered. I stamped and masked in the corners of the lay-out and added some brown ink splats. To finish the lay-out off I added some half pearls as well as some peach coloured paper roses.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a good week-end filled with special times with family and friends...... and some crafty time too!!
When you become a Mother,
you stop being the picture and
start being the frame.
